Yamsterdam Apartments & Rooms

Some of the electrical wiring was exposed and had been painted over. there were two of us, so the size and space was fine. had there been three the apartment may have felt a bit cramped. also, the mattresses were too big for the beds.

We were delighted with the appartment and were looking forward to some privacy, which is why we chose to stay in an appartment over a hotel, however, the friendly letting agent failed to mention the fact that the building was undergoing extensive works....starting at 7.45am! we were woken up by loud drilling noise followed by someone actually entering our room.we laughed it off and went out for the day but were greatly distressed when we came home around 5pm to find two builders in our appartment.all our belongings-including passports and spare cash-were in the appartment for security and i felt extremely violated.that was on my birthday and it very nearly ruined our evening, our whole stay.i would cconsider using yamsterdam again but would have to be garanteed that the noise and invasion of privacy were indeed a blunder from the agency, not their usual way of dealing with "cheaper" bookings.

We arrived at the office on the saturday 2pm, we informed online that this is when we would arrive. we knocked on the door, rang the bell and rang the number, there was no answer. on the window it had the owner’s mobile number, which went straight to voicemail. i left 2 messages, eventually 2 hours later after wondering amsterdam unknowing where we would be staying that night, manuel called me back telling me that he had sent a colleague to the office. when i arrived they looked surprised to see me, one was the cleaner and asked me for the money in cash, i felt this was wrong and called manuel whom told me that this was correct, that i was to give the cleaner the cash, and that the credit card machine was broken and although i gave my credit card details online, he ensured me that this only confirms the booking and i would not be charged via my card. so far i have not been charged. when we went to pay for the apartment, we were being asked to pay a further 45€ on the price agreed online, they insisted that it was city tax and showed me the break down on their system. i felt this should have been mentioned online. manuel explained that the apartments were a distance away from the yamsterdam office and that we would need to pay for the taxi to take us to the apartments another 8€, thankfully the colleague taking us did pay for the taxi fare. after this carry on, and no apology our stay was quite pleasant, there were building works going on but this would be uncontrollable for the owners. the people staying below had a party, and the same cleaner mentioned above told us of the mess left, with used condoms and small amounts of blood on the walls. again this was only one night and uncontrollable by the owners. as much as i enjoyed the freedom of the quality of the apartments, the lack of professionalism in dealing with the booking i would not booked with these people again.

Do not attempt to play pirate / copy dvd's on the dvd player!! original copy's only!! we brought with us over 25 dvd's and could not play one!! very disappointing. it's not often that we get to relax and watch dvd's so we found that very very frustrating!!

We made reservations for an "apartment" and we got a simple room, nothing close to an apartment. we never knew the exact location of the hotel until we actually checked in. you can surely find better price-quality in amsterdam. i had problems to pay with my credit card (because my card did not have a chip, like they use in europe) even when i had no problem using my card in other places in amsterdam.
