1) From Schiphol Airport: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2).
2) From Central Station: At Central Station take tram (streetcar) nr. 25 to 'Sarphatipark'. The trams in Amsterdam are normally running from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.
3) By car: From the highway A2 go straight into the “Rijnstraat”, this street changes into “van Wouwstraat”. At the first big intersection you turn left into the “Ceintuurbaan”. After about 250 meters you will find Sarphati Hotel on your left hand side, opposite the Sarphatipark.

The hotel was very central and easy to get around from. staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful.The website images didn't reflect the hotel. our room was tiny and the bathroom facilities in the room were very poor there was absoloutely no privacy. we had to climb several stairs to get to our room at the top floor of the house and no reference was made to this when we checked in. also the banister on the top flight of stairs appeared to be coming loose from the wall when you held onto it climbing the stairs. The only thing positive i can say was that we only stayed one night.Possibly the smallest hotel room i have ever stayed in - a miniscule closet type room with paper thin walls and no outside window. all for an outrageous euro 110 a night. not even close to the centre of town. terrible value for money. Excellent room, excellent service, great location! the room was clean, well organised, cleaned every day, had ensuit shower/toilet room, tv and could receive phonecalls. the staff was very friendly and very helpful with every kind of query. the breakfast was good, fresh, loads of choices, clean tables. the tram stops in front of the hotel and goes to the main locations. i will recommend this hotel to my friends and would use it again myself (only that i now live in amsterdam :). ) The breakfast service started at 8am which was a bit late for me as i already had to be at work shortly after 8am. so i could only use the breakfast 1 day out of 5. but for holiday makers it's fine. not hotel-related: the parking in the city is a bummer with €20 per day on the street and €40 per day in the nearest underground parking garage. so the location might not be suited for holiday makers who come with their own car.Anonymous

The staff were really delightful and very helpful.we stayed in one room 1st night which was an internal room and somewhat small but 2nd two nights in the garden room which was bigger,brighter better all round. both rooms very clean. hotel right by a tram stop but little noise from this, just really handy. 20 min walk to centre of amsterdam but good to be a little further out from the crowds. excellent breakfast, various breads, jams, cereal, fruit, limitless oj and coffee. small, friendly, clean. happy to go there again. Coffee machine was a bit eccentric. needed to wait for water to fill up and heat for ages.probably need to up-grade to the next size up to cope with number of guests.Lewkowitz

Breakfast was very good, there was plent of choice. the staff were all very helpful when asked for directions, advice etc. the hotel is in a great location, there is a tram stop right outside to get you into town. there is also however much to do in the area surrounding the hotel, there are many shops and restaurants, sarphati park is also a great place to relax if the eather is good.It would have been helpful if we were able to arrange a late checkout as our return flights were not until late in the evening. the hotel did however allow us to leave our suitcases with them.Anonymous

The owner was very helpful, friendly. staff was efficient and unobtrusive. breakfast was good room, room was clean, beds were comfortable. no complaings.There was a surcharge of 4% for using a credit card to pay for room. when i pointed out that when i booked online, the price was inclusive & i had used a credit card to reserve and there was no mention of a surcharge in the rates, then they waived the 4%, but if i hadn't argued, i would have been charged the extra.Lara Junior

We booked into this hotel with two young children and immediately knew we had made a mistake. the sarphati hotel is a 2 star hotel and provides only the most basic of services. the rooms were clean but were more "hostel" like than "hotel". there are 3 floors with very steep stairs and there is no elevator. you cannot make phonecalls from your room. however, the staff were friendly and accommodating and upon seeing that we could not manage in this hotel with 2 babies allowed us to check out with a full refund for unsed nights. this was very generous of them since they were within their rights to charge us at least a nights extra accomodation. they serve a good breakfast and the location is excellent.The sarphati is a bit overpriced for what you get. i would not describe it as a hotel but more like a hostel. do not book here if you have young children.Anonymous

The breakfast was not worth waking up in time for, it was just ham and cheese with bread. the bathrooms are wet rooms and they flood if you stay in the shower too long. directions we were given were not clear took us a while to find it.
