Description
The new 4-star deluxe Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre is located on the waters edge and within walking distance from the old centre of Amsterdam and Amsterdam Central Station.
The 408-bedroom hotel, part of the well-known Swiss-based Mövenpick hotel chain, is situated in one of Amsterdam's prime spots, on the waterfront between the new music hall Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ and Passenger Terminal Amsterdam. The hotel offers elegant and comfortable rooms equipped with five star facilities and has excellent views over both harbour and the city of Amsterdam.
The hotel includes almost 1.000-square meter state-of-the-art conference centre as well as a covered parking for 500 cars. An excellent fully equipped health club is available free of charge to every guest staying in the hotel. Silk Road Restaurant offers an exciting East meets West Kitchen with both a la carte and a live cooking theme buffet which is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Like the rest of the hotel the restaurant is completely non-smoking. The hotel also thinks of their youngest guests; The Kids Club is available every Saturday and Sunday from 8AM till 1 PM. After those hours the hotel can provide childcare.

The Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam is situated in a central location alongside the 'IJ' river at the Amsterdam harbour where enormous cruises dock. The hotel is at walking distance from the city centre and Amsterdam Central Station is very close, as well as several museums and Dam Square.
How to reach the hotel?By train, from Schiphol Airport: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM. From the central station follow the steps below (by tram).
By tram, from Amsterdam Central Station: Take tramline 26 (Direction IJburg) or tramline 25 (Direction Passenger Terminal) from Central Station and leave tram at stop Muziekgebouw Bimhuis, which is the hotel's stop. Tramride is 5 minutes. From there you can walk to the hotel in approximately 3 minutes. The trams in Amsterdam are normally running from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.
You can also walk to the hotel from Amsterdam Central Station. The walk to the hotel takes 10 minutes.
By car: Take Exit S 114 from the Eastern Ring Highway A10. Continue into the Piet Hein Tunnel; at the end of the tunnel take a right turn towards Amsterdam Central Station. After the third traffic light, take the second right turn and you will find the hotel. To reach the hotel from Haarlem take exit S103.

Nice and new hotelService was poor, requests were not met (even though we made it 3 times) - all 3 times they just ignored the request (said they would look into it and just didn't contact us again) - we gave up after the third try. rude receptionist - a polite request for a room at 11am was met with a rude response "if you want a room before the check-in time of 3pm, you should have booked a room the night before" - very poor. not recommended for cruise passengers.Brassington

Friendly and helpful staff, courtesy bus which runs back and forth to central station every half hour. just a short stroll from the hotel if you choose to walk, although not much to see along the way.

As far as i'm concerned, this was the best choice hotel i could have made. i liked the modern up-to-date look and style both inside and outside. the hotel staff was very friendly, professional and informative. the room was large and spacious and the bathroom was 1st rate. the 16th floor city view was absolutely stunning particularly at dusk. the room had all the creature conforts including a mini fridge, a safe, wifi internet, a safe, free coffee, tv, etc. some people may find the bed a bit too hard and the duvet too lightweight but i found it to be just fine. as for the location, it is about a 10-15 minute walk to central station, 3-5 minutes by tram; that suited me just fine. the hotel is part of the new section where a lot of new construction is going on. it's a bit expensive but well worth it. best of all - it's the only non-smoking hotel in the city. The hotel was ideally situated and impressive to view from the outside. inside the rooms were large & clean with great views over the city. we didn't use the gym or eat at the restaurant ao are unable to comment on those however i would recommend the moevenpick to anyone travelling to amsterdam.Anonymous
