The totally renovated Hotel De Mallemoolen Amsterdam is a one-star hotel in a monumental building. The new management gave to the 13 sharing facilities rooms a new, cosy, comfortable face.
The hotel is next to Hotel De Koopermoolen where the reception (with Internet facilities and safe deposit boxes) is located and where the full continental breakfast buffet is served. There is free internet available. Being in a monumental building, the Hotel De Mallemoolen has very steep staircases.

Stayed before, fantastic budget hotel - not the ritz, but for the time you are in the hotel, all it needs to be is clean, and it is very clean and the staff are extremly friendly - definatly return again!!!Noise - it does get very noisey in the rooms at night, and groups tended to congrigate in one room, which wasnt goodGavin Hall

The guy on the front desk was very friendly and helpful.If i'd paid €30 a night for the room i'd be happy. how they justify upwards of €80 a night for a room of that standard is beyond me!!Anonymous

This hotel has a fantastic location just 2 mins from central station, it sights right at the top end of the red light / coffeeshop district and is a five min walk from dam square and all the shops and restaurants. the staff are friendly and very helpful. excellent smoker friendly hotel along hostel lines.

I went for a girly weekend to amsterdam. the location of this hotel (i personally wouldn't consider this a hotel more of a hostel) is perfect... we didn't realise how brilliant it was until we turned up... right in the middle of the red light district, with brown cafes outside the front door. breakfast wasn't great but sufficed. the staff were super. very friendly and keen to help. we stayed in a 6 bed dorm (there were 3 of us) up in the attic. we had our own sink. shared the toilet and the shower with one other room. there were no problems sharing and it is all kept very clean. for the smokers, you are able to smoke inside (well until april at least), but for non-smokers it does stink in the dorms! they use eco-friendly light bulbs that take a good 5 minutes to come on!!!!!!!!! due to the type of buildings they have in amsterdam (tall and thin) do expect to climb up to your room! we had to endure 1 flight of stairs and 2 ladders/staircases to get to our room... all part of the experience though! Watch out for the middle ages women in amsterdam... they are sooo moody! Ben Doyle

Hotel was always very clean, new towels, drinking cups, soap, shampoo etc. staff were friendly and very helpfull. great location to central station, dam square, red lights and shopping. 24hour reception.The stairs were very steep but not too much of a problem, didnt really like the cominal shower and toilet. poor lighting in room, toilet and shower, could do with brighter bulbs. breakfast was a bit poor, cereal or bread and butter. We decided to paid for the day and just leave the hotel for something else. we did not spend the night there.
the rooms are very small, the worst is carrying your baggs two or three floors in a very narrow staits, almost imposible. not help availble, very poor services. good location, but not enought to enter in this place.

The convenience of the central location with the affordability i required.It could do with double glazing as it's on a busy straat when the only quiet time is from about 3am to 7am.
