The Lloyd Hotel is a new Dutch hotel centrally situated in the fashionable heart of Amsterdam ’s Eastern Docklands. This remarkable Amsterdam hotel offers an experience in itself. Renowned Dutch architects, designers and artists have transformed this monument dating from 1921 in a hotel in Amsterdam where many inhabitants of Amsterdam, international artists, tourists and business people feel at home.

All 117 rooms – with a luxury rating from one to five stars - differ in size and interior. The difference in price is linked to the difference in surface area. The interior decoration is a combination of modern Dutch design and timeless classics.

The hotel has (paid) parking facilities in an adjoining parking garage. There's also plenty of space in front of the hotel if you're interested in getting there by boat. Lloyd Hotel has a restaurant, a bar, a soundproof music room, a library. A ticketpoint where you can get tickets for theatre performances and concerts and even a “corner” shop.

The hotel’s Cultural Embassy offers various services in communal spaces. Situated above the restaurant, the Cultural Embassy informs guests and interested parties on topics such as art, culture and cultural projects. The Cultural Embassy has a member list of established cultural groups and organisations and mediates in bringing guests, members and cultural organisations together. In conjunction with the Lloyd Hotel the Cultural Embassy and its members organise projects and cultural activities: performances, small exhibitions and presentations.

The design by Christoph Seyferth ensures that every space has been fully utilised without losing its essence or originality. These rooms are the pick of the bunch, each of them has at least one feature that will surprise even the most well-travelled guest. These rooms are huge: one has a four-metre-wide bed (sleeps eight); another, an enormous fibre-glass bath set in the centre of the room, another, a grand piano. The Lloyd Hotel is very well situated: it is near the city centre and well connected to the public transport system. The hotel is easy accessable from the ring-road and from the rooms you have lovely views over the fashionable Eastern Docklands area.

How to reach the hotel? How to reach the hotel?
By train, from Schiphol Airport: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station. The trains to the central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM. From here, go to the following step (by tram).

By tram, from Amsterdam Central Station: You can take tram nr. 26 (IJtram) from the square in front of the station to the stop 'Rietlandpark' (3rd stop). When you exit the tram station, you will see the Lloyd Hotel on your left. Trams in Amsterdam are usually running from: 07:00 AM to 12:30 AM.

By car, approaching from the A10 ring road: Take exit S114 (Zeeburg/Centrum/Artis) and follow the signs for the centre. It will lead you into the Piet Hein tunnel, keep to the right hand lane. When you exit the tunnel turn right at the lights, onto the Piet Heinkade. Turn right at the first lights. The road takes a sharp turn to the right, you are now on the Oostelijke Handelskade. If you wish to park in the parking garage, you turn right into the garage after the second building. If not, keep going straight ahead along the Oostelijke Handelskade. The Lloyd Hotel is located 400 metres along on the right hand side.

By car, approaching from Amsterdam Central Station: From the back of the central station (facing the water), turn east (to the right). The water is on your left. Follow the road until there are buildings on the left hand side of the road. Continue straight ahead, and turn left at the second light. The road takes a sharp turn to the right, you are now on the Oostelijke Handelskade. If you wish to park in the parking garage, you turn right into the garage after the second building. If not, keep going straight ahead along the Oostelijke Handelskade. The Lloyd Hotel is located 400 metres along on the right hand side.

The beds are amazing, possible the best i've know in a hotel
The reason food is available 24 hours a day is it's all ready prepared, i'd prefer fresh. ground floor rooms are very noisy due to being by the restaurant / reception.

Location was convenient #26 tram (3rd stop) from central station metro and only 45 minutes in transfers from schipol airrport. nice views of canal from many rooms. nivwe towels, beds and even bathrobes in rooms. modern furniture
Narrow hallways with thresholds tough for older folks to wheel bags. palatial common bathroom with killer view, but delayed cleaning and often missing toilet paper.

For a basement room in a former youth prison with no view and bars on the windows, it was surprisingly comfortable and cheery with bright yellow and green colors - the surprising shower and huge fluffy bed were the best parts. also, the cuisine offered by the hotel restaurant was wonderful.
Big black spiders on the wall - three of them. bound to happen in a basement room, though - not really the hotel's fault.

Our plane arrived early and the concierge was kind enough to let us check in early. we would have been exhausted otherwise! the room was fantastic. the shower was really cool. the restaurant was a bit expensive (like most hotel restaurants), but the food was worth it. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the hotel is in a quiet part of town, which i loved. it's nice to go back to a hotel to relax. the rooms were larger than in most european hotels.
Room service costs 7.50 euros. some people want hotels "in the thick of it"-- this one is an easy tram ride from the squares but some people might want a hotel closer to the loud areas.

Clean and modern hotel in a quiet area of amsterdam. good connections with tram.
We got there after 6 hour flight from greece to tell us that they were "overbooked" and they moved us for 1 night to the nh tropen hotel. this never happened to us before!very bad behaviour of the reception staff...

Full of character. not a 'run of the mill' hotel! the room we stayed in was a 2 star room and had a surprising shower in the middle of it. the restaurant area was very clean,airy and modern and the service was efficient and friendly.

The historical aspects of the hotel are nice, but also a little frenetic effort to indentify the hotel with the past.
I believe the entire presentation of the hotel lags a link to a little luxury or smart details as a variation on the spartan origian. the fuction of the old building does not serve the actual useage and is too much kept alife.

The rooms were nice and clean. the shower was a little unusual, right in the middle of the room and not in a cubicle. but it was fun to use and made the stay a little bit more unusual. the hotel was good and modern and a right hub of activity and we timed the tram trip to the central station as four minutes
