Description
Hotel de Gerstekorrel is a pleasant non-smoking hotel, located in the very heart of Amsterdam. The hotel has recently been renovated and the rooms are in very good condition; it is no wonder why the guests are coming back year after year to this popular hotel.
The hotel is situated close to the famous Dam Square, major shopping streets such as ”De Kalverstraat”, the canals, wonderful restaurants and the unforgettable nightlife. The fabulous Amsterdam museums, Art Galleries or even the Ajax football stadium are easily reached either on foot or by public transport, while Central Station is approximately 5 minutes walking distance.
Hotel de Gerstekorrel has 32 rooms including single rooms, two-person rooms and rooms for three or four people. All the rooms have their own private bathrooms with a shower and toilet and are fully furnished with televisions and direct dial telephones. By request the hotel provides a free wireless internet connection.

The hotel is located near the Dam Square which is now a focus of tourist activity. You are close to all the major shopping streets and department stores, night life and canals and the fabulous Amsterdam museums and art galleries are easily reached either on foot or by public transport. The Central Station is about 5 minutes walking distance.
How to reach the hotel?From Schiphol take the train to Amsterdam Central Station (€ 3.00 one way). From Central Station take any of the trams 4, 16, 24, 25 for one stop to Dam Square. On your left side of the Square you will find the Damstraat. (Our address is Damstraat 22-24). Traveling time is about 18 min. From 6 AM until 24 PM four trains per hour, rest of the day at least one train per hour.

The staff are friendly and very helpful. the location is great (very close to dam square).
The room (number 40) was extremely small and quite dark as there was only a small window and was expensive (£100 per night- not helped by low exchange rate) bathroom was also very small. breakfast could have had more variety- cheese rolls every day.Chatha

Very nice and helpful staff. reception open 24 hours. very good location ( practically in dam square ). breackfast in room! perfect at the time one wants! We stayed in the second building of the hotel wich have 4 floors. unfortunately no lift and lot of stairs...even if i felt like a princess in the tower, at the end of the day it was very difficult to walk up 4 floors without remaining breathless!Stephen Rankin

For a lower end of the budget hotel, this is certainly one of the better options, great locationSmall bathroom, when sittin on the toilet my chin rested on the sink. quite handy if you'd like to clear your bowels and brush your teeth at the same time.Anonymous

Everything was perfect:))room was ready just past 12:00 noon; staff was really fantastic.tv with over 30 channels (including about 7 in english) location couldn't be better-near red light district , with at least 6 coffee shops on the same street; pizza shop opened till 3am and a croissant corner right next door to the hotel. definitely would recommend this place to everybody; especially to young couples:))Brian Flood

The staff were very friendly, the beds were very comfortable and the location was ideal. i'd recommend a stay at the hotelWe were on the top floor, the stairs weren't bad for us but i could see them being a problem to people with health problems etc..
