First of all, let us introduce ourselves;
We are a simple and basic hotel in Amsterdam, right between Amsterdam Central Station and Dam Square.
Hotel Ben is centrally located and it offers a perfect stay for all guests who want to explore the canals, museums, shops and the night life areas of Amsterdam. All is within walking distance.
The friendly atmosphere and generous hospitality have drawn guests back to Hotel Ben over and over again.

The hotel is a simple and basic hotel in Amsterdam, right between Amsterdam Central Station and Dam square. Because our hotel is centrally located, it offers a perfect place to explore the canals, museums, shops and nightlife areas of Amsterdam. All is within walking distance.
How to reach the hotel?How to reach the hotel
From the airport you can either take a taxi (approx. 20 minutes) or a train (approx. 15 minutes) to Amsterdam Central Station ('Amsterdam CS').
From the Central Station of Amsterdam, it's a 5 minutes walk to our hotel:
- Take the main exit and go straight out in the direction of Dam Square onto the Damrak;
- Follow this main street (Damrak) which you can recognize from the canal boats on your left and the Victoria hotel on your right-hand side;
- At the end of the canal (when you see the Grasshopper building on your left) turn left into de 'Oude Brugsteeg';
- Next street (at the entrance of the Grasshopper) turn right into the 'Beursstraat'.

For a one star hotel, it is very reasonably priced and in a fantastic situation, its a stones throw away from the train station, red light area, dam square, and hundreds of pubs and resturants. if you are going to stay anywhere, this is the place to stay. also the staff who we met were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you.The only bad thing is, and this is being very picky, is the stairs, they are a pain to carry your suitcases up, or when you have had a few to many heinikein. but that like i said is being very picky.Victoria Kingswood

Hotel is in a great spot to get to everything. there is no way u can get lost staying there. clean but the bathroom is really tiny.The stairs were a joke. 90paces from lobby to our room. also the bells ringing ever 15mintues is not fun.Anonymous

Very good location, just across the road from the damrak and grasshopper. around the corner from the redlight district and dam square.
was close to centraal station
allowed to smoke and windows open wide enough too
was fairly clean and room was big enough for 3 people1- staff were not very hospitable
2- check out is at 10.30 am and they bang on your door at 9.30 to kick you outwaving the 10 euro key deposit in your face
3- the 5% tourist tax isnt included in the price
4- they want 100 euro deposit to use the television
5- no where to store your luggage once you have been thrown out
6- not too bad but the bells are very close by and go off every 15mins
7- oh and the bedding is not very nice either, was like sleeping under cow hides
8- being woken up at 8am with the hoover isnt a plus either
however it wasnt too bad with all these things aside.

The staff were nice and helpful. the hotle was well locatedThey only provided face towels that are like sand paper, luckily we always bring our own.
you can't move in the bathroom, it's a sardine tin with no ventilation, so when you shower you can't breath or see.
the site says tax included but when you get there they charge you.
they also charge you 100euro's deposit for the remote for the t.v. considering it's a dump, thats a very harsh price.Anonymous

The hotel is open 24/7 so it was easy to come and go when we pleased.right next to the police station, handy if you need to report anything stolen. very central location, which was very good!The stairs are almost a 90 degree angle, as we were on the top floor each time we reached our room we had to collapse gasping for air. wouldn't recommend if your not a fan of rigorous exercise or have heart conditions!take your own towels!Jane Dearmun

I find it easily situated, could get everywhere within a few minutes. the staff were very friendly.If you are in a room at the back of the hotel, it is extremely noisy all night long. if you close your window there is no difference as there my as well not be any.Anonymous
